Donald Trump, a name we all too often hear in the media nowadays. Elected as the 45th President of the United States, impeached twice, acquitted twice and now under investigation, he remains likely one of the most controversial Presidents in American history.

However, his fans, also known as “ReTrumplicans,” continue to push and actively support Donald Trump going as far as to attack liberal politicians and leaders such as members of the Democratic Party and even members from the Republican Party.

After the 2020 Election, President Trump claimed that the election was fraudulent, with several states such as Georgia, Arizona, and Michigan not going to Joseph R. Biden. This culminated on January 6th when thousands of people marched on the Capitol Building in DC and disrupted the electoral college certification.

This led to military troops being deployed and several people losing their lives before the authorities secured the capitol and Congress could continue its certification of the 2020 Election.

After this, Twitter and several major social media platforms suspended Donald Trump due to January 6th. However, the Republican Party continues to support Trump and actively helps him by pushing out opposition like Liz Cheney.

Now, this hasn’t stopped moderates in the GOP from speaking out as well as average Americans. “I enjoyed President Trump, but it's time for the party to move on. The only way Republicans can win another Presidential Election is populism.” said a Republican from Indiana.

These are thoughts shared by many, however not all. “Well, I generally did like him. He said what he thought and he didn’t let anyone boss him around. I think that many things that he said were taken out of context and made him look worse. I would 100% support him for a 2024 run, unless a better candidate that I believe in comes along.” Stated a Republican from South Carolina; this shows that people know Trump isn’t a saint. They generally approve of him.

Even then, the Capitol Riot, as some refer to it, was a major divider splitting the GOP into loyal Trump Supporters or Moderates who publicly condemn Trump and his actions. This led to Democrats pushing for President Trump’s impeachment and some bipartisan support; however, this fell short and led to acquittal in the Senate.

“The Capitol Riots were started because of a lie that President Trump stirred. His continuous repetition of the Big Lie provided the reason for as to why many of these rioters stormed the Capitol.” A Democrat on the subject of the Capitol Riot showing his obvious disdain for the former President.

Now, President Donald Trump faces possible jail time as investigations into his organization continue to provide more basis for prosecutors to convict the former president. It is possible that he goes to jail and fades from the political eye, or he remains a free man and runs once again in 2024; that all remains to be seen, but as it stands, he remains a prominent figure in the GOP and American politics.
